His message isn't so much that technology creates stupider people...after all, I'm not writing this post on my abacus. :) It's more that technology allows students to rely on it to the point where "common sense" and inference suffer. There's a different book I read in the past that takes more of a Luddite approach, and I didn't care for his argument. You may appreciate something like this one a bit more.
