Hey, don't forget to post your book lists to the community (or link us up to where they are posted)! :) Thanks!
Wow, I didn't realize I had finished so few books. I think it's partially because I started and then quit a couple.
Lie Still - Julia Heaberlin
Emily's rape from 13 years ago is coming back to haunt her after she and her cop husband move from New York to Texas. When Emily gets involved with some of the rich and mysterious women in her town, creepy stuff begins to happen, and someone goes missing. Emily is forced to face her past and share her secrets. I almost quit reading this at first, because I thought it was going to involve a lot of disturbing behaviors of the women's club. The back of the book would have you believe that is a main focus, but it's not. This is a mystery/suspense and I really enjoyed it. It doesn't have that fakey aspect that so many women's suspense books do (especially Christian suspense, which this is not). Emily is more real and there is a little of everything--humor, sweetness, sadness and tension.
Whispers in the Wind - Lauraine Snelling
Second book in the Wild West Wind series. Still pretty good. A little preachier than the last. Surprisingly, still no romance going on. She really drags it out! I'm so used to historical Christian fiction having constant flirtation, inner dialogue about how hot the other person is, sexual tension and/or cliche scenes where the man must rescue the woman and carry her to and fro. It's refreshing to be two books in and even though it's pretty clear who the guy will be, it's not because of annoying scenes. I'm also appreciating that these books aren't too depressingly dramatic.
