"An Ivy Hill Christmas" by Julie Klassen
This novella takes us back to Julie's charming English village for a holiday celebration. Richard has been the black sheep of his family, but perhaps this Christmas he'll find a way to overcome the past and truly feel at home again.
"The Red Ribbon" by Pepper Basham
This was my first time reading any of the True Colors true crime series from Barbour, and it brought to life the Carroll County courthouse shooting of 1912. Pepper did a great job bringing the Appalachian culture to life.
"The Refrain Within" by Liz Tolsma
I'd never read a WWII book set in Hungary. I learned a lot about the country and how the war affected the people who lived there.
The Kissing Tree novella collection
These four novellas are set in the town of Oak Springs, Texas, and span from 1868 until modern day. Each novella was really great, and two of them even made me cry! That shouldn't be a surprise with this all-star line-up of authors: Karen Witemeyer, Regina Jennings, Amanda Dykes, and Nicole Deese.
"The Light at Wyndcliff" by Sarah E. Ladd
When Liam Twethewey comes of age and inherits his great-uncle's Cornwall property, he's in for quite a challenge with the local residents and also the frequent shipwrecks off his stretch of beach.
"Awaking Wonder" by Sally Clarkson
A former homeschooling mom and sought-after author and speaker, Sally Clarkson details her theories of wholehearted education and instilling a lifelong love of learning into your children.
"Some Bright Someday" by Melissa Tagg
Lucas Danby came back from Afghanistan a scarred man, in more ways than one. His pasts haunts him and his secrets limit him. But a group of friends give him a safe place to share all of him—and one in particular may finally give him a reason to call Maple Valley home.
"The Sowing Season" by Katie Powner
A recently retired farmer must find new ways to occupy his time, and also to reach the hearts of his family after years of neglecting his relationship with them. A 15-year-old girl whose life has been lived according to The Plan is suddenly overwhelmed and panicked that things won't work out. Can these two somehow help each other?
Books read in 2020: 64, and 12 novellas
