"More Than Words Can Say" by Karen Witemeyer
When an ancient town edict forces Abigail to have a man's name on the deed of her business, she proposes a marriage of convenience to the town's most eligible bachelor. Absolutely loved this story!

"A Passionate Hope" by Jill Eileen Smith
The Biblical account of Hannah comes to life under Smith's pen. Hannah's hopes, her despair, at long last the gift of a child she has promised to the Lord... a lot to enjoy here.

"The Prophetess" by Jill Eileen Smith

This time it was Deborah's life under examination. Smith really brought a lot of nuances to this story, particularly in Deborah's relationship with her husband and children. I liked this one even more than Hannah's story.

"Always" and
"Evermore" by Jody Hedlund
While Hedlund is marketing these as YA medieval fiction, they more properly fall into YA fairy tale territory, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. "Always" is the prequel novella that sets up the tale of three tiny lost princesses who were hidden when an evil ruler overthrew their parents' kingdom. "Evermore" is the story of Crown Princess Adelaide, who has grown up rather rough and tumble with her male cousins, learning her true identity and beginning the quest to reclaim the throne. Two more novels will release soon to complete the story.

"Full Steam Ahead" by Karen Witemeyer
This is one from Karen's backstock that I read for the first time. Two headstrong and unique characters, secrets, family treasure—this one was just okay to me.

"The Jesus Who Surprises" by Dee Brestin
This Bible study takes a look through the Old Testament and all the different ways you can see Jesus throughout the text. It also aims to teach us to see Jesus at work in our everyday lives. There are also plenty of testimonies from Brestin's own life sprinkled in each chapter.

Books read in 2019: 49, and 13 novellas
