Never Pick Up Hitchhikers! (1976) - Ellis Peters
A young man is offered a ride and a place to stay, in exchange for dropping off a package. He is unaware that he is walking into a trap, but he is saved at the last moment and sets out to solve the mystery. It is more suspense than mystery, because as a reader you can see all the puzzle pieces. Nice read, but I liked this one the least of the other books I read by the same author.
Heaven to Betsy (1945) - Maud Hart Lovelace
This is a really cute book aimed at young adult girls. It's 1906 and Betsy is just starting high school. Lots of fun and giggles. It is a little bit like Little House or Anne of Green Gables. I will be reading the rest of the series from this point.
The Dog Who Came in from the Cold (2009) - Alexander McCall Smith
This is the sequel to Corduroy Mansions. It is a sweet and silly look at the lives of people living in and around a Pimlico apartment building. It was released one chapter at a time and can be found online here for those who like AMS's sense of humor.
Behind the Scenes of Hindi Cinema (2005) - Johan Manschot & Marijke de Vos
A coffee table book about Bollywood. It has a neat scrapbook-like design.
