Dec. 2018 Book Reviews
Jan. 2nd, 2019 04:19 pmI read a lot in December! There are so many titles on here that my descriptions are short, but just click on the link if you are interested in my full review or more information.
"Searching For You" by Jody Hedlund
Wrapping up her Orphan Train series, Hedlund gives us the story of Sophie, the youngest Neumann sister.
"Tales of the Resistance" by David and Karen Mains
A childhood favorite revisited. Fantasy/allegory for younger readers.
"The Lieutenant's Bargain" by Regina Jennings
A hilarious string of misunderstandings and mishaps leaves Lt. Jack Hennessey unintentionally married to his childhood friend.
"Here To Stay" by Melissa Tagg
Autumn dreams of traveling the world but is tied down managing her family's inn in a small town. Shades of "Gilmore Girls."
"The Bride of Ivy Green" by Julie Klassen
This English village series comes to a close - but will all the ladies we've come to know and love find a happy ending?
"Waiting for His Return" by Carrie Turansky
A short and sweet holiday novella set during the American Civil War.
"A Very Mayberry Christmas" by Tracy Joy Jones
The fifth Mayberry family novella, this story focuses on a mom's health crisis during her daughter's Christmas wedding.
"Devoted Heart" by Bill Myers
What if God had not sent His Son to be born 2,000 years ago - what if those events were playing out today? Modern take of the nativity story.
"Where Love Is There God Is Also" by Leo Tolstoy
I can say I've read Tolstoy now! OK, so maybe it's a 40-page novella, but I'll count it. ;-) A poor cobbler comes to see Christ in a new way when applying Scripture to his life.
"A Cowboy Unmatched" by Karen Witemeyer
"An Unforeseen Match" by Regina Jennings
"Meeting Her Match" by Mary Connealy
These are part of a collection of novellas called A Match Made In Texas. I read each of them in one day so none of them were overly complicated in plot, but they were enjoyable diversions on the treadmill while I completed by 2018 walking goal.
"When You Look At Me" by Pepper Basham
True confessions: I didn't like the first Pepper Basham book I read, but I wanted to give her a second shot. Oh my, I'm glad I did! This is a swoony story of two very vulnerable people who are drawn to the gentle strength of the other. A full and proper review coming soon, but "Heart eyes for days" is how I phrased my placeholder review on Goodreads. Ha!
Books read in 2018: 60, and 15 novellas
^That's a new record for titles read in one year!
