I'm Laura, and I'm 24 years old, almost 25. (Woo hoo! Birthday in three weeks!) The first book I ever read by myself was called All My Toys are on the Floor. The most recent (audio) book I finished is Across the Nightingale Floor: Tales of the Otori, Book One.
I've always loved to read - one of those bookish types who was always reading at school and on car rides. These days, I still love reading, but I don't often spend my time lounging around with a book. I have other hobbies and responsibilities that take a lot of time. Mostly, I read when I eat breakfast, and on my lunch break at work. But I also listen to a lot of audio books at work, as I sit at a computer and do tedious tasks. I'd never listened to audio books before I started working there, but I have to tell you - I am hooked. Which is why I'm just a little bit sad that I'm starting a new job next week and I think it's unlikely that audio books will be an option there. I think I'll have to start listening to them in my car.
I like different kinds of books, mostly fiction, but some non-fiction too. Maybe it's easier to say that I'm not into mysteries or thrillers, but I'm open to pretty much anything else. Some of my favorites are:
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving
The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
The Anne of Green Gables series by L.M. Montgomery (hence the icon and my screenname)
Lots of books by Orson Scott Card - He writes science fiction, some fantasy, some alternative history, Christian fiction, and probably more that I'm forgetting.
C.S. Lewis
Alexander McCall Smith
Christopher Moore
Cecelia Ahern
Of course, there are many more books that I love. I know you all understand!
I have a list of recommendations from various people, and I'm looking forward to adding to that list from this community.
