The Good Husband of Zebra Drive (2007) - Alexander McCall Smith
This is the eighth book in the "No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency" series. More of the usual stuff you expect from the novels. Mr. J.L.B. sets out to solve a case for himself. Mma Makutsi decides to leave the agency, taking her 97 percent with her. Mma Ramotswe solves a few problems and contemplates "acts of love, acts of tea, acts of laughter."

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (1999) - J. K. Rowling
The infamous Sirius Black escapes from prison and seems to have murderous intentions towards Harry Potter, who is entering his third year at Hogwarts. This was my favorite of the book series so far.

Nine Coaches Waiting (1958) - Mary Stewart
Linda Martin becomes a governess at Château Valmy, but someone may be trying to kill her young student, a count and heir to a fortune. The suspense is slowly built. The air is Gothic and mysterious. There is a "Cinderella" style romance mixed in with the suspense. Excellent story.

Hallowe'en Party (1969) - Agatha Christie
A young girl, who claimed to witness a murder, is silenced forever in an apple bobbing bucket. (Children in peril seems to be an on-going theme in my reading this month --spooky!) Mystery writer, Ariadne Oliver, asks her friend Poirot to help solve the case. This is one of Agatha's mediocre books; one of my least favorites from her.
