christianreaderThe Witness - Dee Henderson
Hm.. this story is hard to summarize. It has to do with three sisters who are all in danger due to connections they happen to have to Bad People. They are also all dating cops. Lots of drastic measures are taken to keep them secure, but of course that's not really enough or there wouldn't be a story. I went into this book with a low expectation because I had heard it was just okay, but I enjoyed it a lot. Well, up until a particular event that made me mad. Then I refused to like it anymore, although by the end of it I had softened back up and thought it was okay. Is it part of a series? By the way, Dee Henderson is a Christian writer but I barely think about that aspect when I'm reading her books because she doesn't really dig into the characters' faith much. She'll mention it like she's fullfilling a quota but that's about it. I say this neutrally, not really with a particular like or dislike for that way about her. :)
Hip to be Square and Altar Call - Hope Lyda
It seems I can indeed still read. I was starting to wonder with all of the audio books I listen to. I read, not listened to, both of these, which probably helped make them funnier. They are a two-part (as far as I know) series about a girl named Mari and her three girl friends. They live in Tuscon, AZ. It's Christian chick lit so you can figure out how these books go. They were written a LOT like Kristin Billerbeck books, which is fine because she's pretty funny. There were some parts that made me laugh out loud, and then there were some parts that made me think, "Mari's sense of humor is dumb..." Anyway, I did enjoy them overall, fluffy as they are.
