Hey, everyone! Question for you.

So, I'm really wanting to find some Christian literature that does not include someone marrying or becoming the significant other of someone else. I'm an avid reader, but have made a habit of making wide circles far away from the Christian section because.... they are all invariably about someone getting married, unless it's for a young audience. I tend to put a wide circle around *any* book that this is a central theme, but I've found Christian lit to be the most likely for this, and most difficult to avoid. I'd love to have some suggestions otherwise! Thanks in advance.

My very favourite Christian book EVER is "The Yada-Yada Prayer Group" by Neta Jackson. That book / series has meant SO much to me, and I reread it on a regular basis. No romance at all :) It's the first in a series of 7, but the first can easily be read by itself - no cliffhanger. I love that book so much! In fact, it might be time for a reread :) :) :) The other books in the series are all just as good. There's a tiny bit of romance in the 6th one, but it's not the main focus - not by a long shot - an doesn't involve the main character.

I'd recommend this series to anybody. LOOOOVE it :)

Another great Christian novel is "Leaning on a Spider's Web" by Jennifer Rees-Larcombe. It does have a tiny bit of romance, but it's definitely not the main focus.

Same goes for "Guilt by Association" by Gilbert Morris - that one is first and foremost a crime novel.

I also love "The Sweetgum Knit Lit Society" by Beth Pattillo... but then I always love books about knitting and books ;)

I don't know if you like it when people retell stories from the Bible, but Francine Rivers writes a lot of books like that. I read some from the Lineage of Grace (http://francinerivers.com/books/series/lineage-grace) series about some of the women in the Bible who led up to Jesus. Some do have a love story involved (like Ruth, of course), some do not. I haven't read a ton of that type, but I know some people really love them. I hear good things about the Mark of the Lion series, but I think I started it and it was so violent! I'm sensitive to that stuff.

Hmm...my first thought was the Florian's Gate trilogy by T. Davis Bunn, because it's all about Eastern Europe and history and antiques...but then I remembered that there's a romance/marriage subplot throughout. So...never mind there. (Though it is a pretty good series.)

I don't read a lot of Christian fiction, and what I do is usually romantic, but my mom really likes Joel Rosenberg's books, which are all action/adventure/spy type novels.

The Colors trilogy by Ted Dekker is sci-fi-ish and doesn't have much romance that I can recall. :)
